Obituary for Janie Howe

Janie M. Howe, known to everyone as Gram, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 23rd, 2019 at 4:00 am, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born May 13, 1925 in Wichita Falls, TX to Jackson Hinkle and Vella Mae Snyder and was raised by her Mother and grandparents, Esther and Fred Snyder. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Texas where she earned her degree in child psychology. When she was 23 years old, she married Earl K. Howe of Tulsa, Oklahoma and left her hometown to move to Tulsa with him and his son Jeffrey who was approximately six years old at the time. Together they had two children, Marilyn and Steven. In 1964 Earl was diagnosed with ALS and died within six months. Janie never remarried, and always said “a love like that only comes along once in a lifetime”. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Howe (wife Janette), Marilyn Fetters and Steven Howe; her sister, Charlotte Gamble and niece Vicki Compton; her grandchildren, Julia Akin, Cory Howe, Kelsa Brazell, Andrea Fetters, (Father) Spencer Howe, and John Tanner Howe; and her great-grandchildren, Timothy, Mason, Elijah, and Sophia Akin, Logan, and Colby and Coleman Howe. Gram was a one of a kind woman, independent, hard-working, loyal and loving. She lived her final ten years in Kentucky with her granddaughter Julia, her husband Scott and their five children. She will be missed beyond what words can convey, but never forgotten in the hearts of those who loved her.
Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of contributions to ALS research or Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
